Stashin' and 'Stitchin'

Last Wednesday the post was all for me! I had three lots of stash, one that I can't talk about as the items are Christmas presents, but one of the other parcels was my Attic Christmas stash pack from Jayne. It was all nicely wrapped up, but as it was an early birthday present for myself I opened it. There were two pieces of fabric, one pink from Sassy's Fabrics and the other one, a blue, from Sugar Maple Fabrics, neither of these have I used before. There were also several assorted hand dyed threads. One that I especially liked was "Tea Tree" from Dinky Dyes, it's a really lovely colour, muted pinks and greens and goes well with the darker pinks and greens of the Ozark Sampler thread in "Vineyard". Included were also two hand dyed silks from Vikki Clayton, I never stitched with silk and look forward to doing so. The other stash was my long awaited "Twelve Months of a Snowman" chart booklet from Willow Fabrics. I was beginning to wonder if I would ever see this as it was on order for several weeks. The problem it seems was obtaining it from Zweigart, you would think that a big company like that would be better with their deliveries.

On the stitching front I made good progress with the Tea Room last week, although I've not stitched on it so far this week as I have decided to stitch Christmas cards for my parents and mother-in-law. I have nearly finished one of them and have next week to stitch the other one. I will post pictures when they are made up into cards. I always stitch the same design so there can be no arguments and I can easily remember what I did. I think though that before too much longer I will be looking out a design for next years card so that I don't have this mad last minute panic.

I recently took part in the Christmas Ornament exchange on Stitch and Stash, Jayne's Attic Forums. I have never made and ornament before, the finishing always put me off. However, I decided to have a go and this is the result, made for Val. I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out, although I feel the back could have been a little better, I'll know for next time.

This is the ornament that I received form Jayne. It's lovely and will be the first one to hang on my "specially bought for the purpose" ornament tree in the dining room.

Tea Room is coming along nicely. I love these designs from LHN & CCN, they seem to be so popular now.
Enjoy all of your goodies, they sound wonderful. :)
Your ornaments look great both sent & received ones. Wish I had a 'special' tree. :(
Take care.

The tea room is progressing nicely Nikki and I love your first attempt at making an ornament. You are very brave, I have not dared try it yet and dont think I would be brave enough to make on for someone else as a first attempt.
