This Weeks Updates

Firstly I'd like to thank everyone for their kind comments on my last post, they are very much appreciated.

I have been stitching almost exclusively on Floralie, and below is my progress as of Tuesday. (I'm a day late in posting this and did quite a bit more yesterday.) I'm really enjoying this design, it's a really easy stitch with it just being the two colours. It's nice to be able to stich something without having to think too much, or to be constantly changing colours. The varigation in the DMC69 gives interest in just one thread.

Next is my May ornament for the Christmas Ornament SAL. I did actually started this over the SAL weekend as we didn't have much else planned. I decided to stitch over one and am very pleased with the outcome. Mind you my eyesight isn't what it used to be and inspite of wearing my glasses I had to get my magnifier out. There was a time when I stitched over one on 36ct without the aid of a magnifier! The design is by Glory Bee from the JCS 10th Anniversay Collection. It's stitched over one on 28ct Platinum Cashel. I substituted all the colours except the green. I really didn't like the GAST Claret that was used for the words "Merry Christmas", so used DMC 115, which is, in my opinion, a much better colour and blends well with the others, which are a combination of WDW and GAST.

I was saddened, although not surprised, this week by the news that the Aion Forums will be closing in August. I've been a member there since October 2004 and it has been a very happy board, and great fun to belong to. I have made many friends in that time, and I'd like to think that we can all keep in touch somehow. It also helped to broaden my stitching horizons, before Aion I just did cross stitch pictures, now I've added speciality stitches and also hardanger to my repertoire. Of course my credit card took a battering as well thanks to all the enablers who frequent the boards! (LOL) My stash has grown out of all proportion, I know that I won't have enough wall space for everything, always supposing that I have enough time in my life to stitch it all! Anyway, Chris, if you are reading this, I'd just like to say thank you very much for Aion.
