Violet Cottage Finish

This weeks finish is Country Cottage/ Crescent Colours Violet Cottage, the second in my trio of cottages. Next, I move on to the last one which will be Peony Cottage.

I've also finished an exchange, but obviously can't share that with you yet, and I'm in the middle of a personal exchange with Clare. Now, I'd like to share some thoughts with you about exchanges. I like taking part in them, but I do worry about them, so much so that as each one finishes I think that's it I won't do any more. I'll explain. I worry about whether or not I can meet the requirments of the exchange, do I have enough charts, are my limited finishing skills good enough? I then worry about whether I'll have the right sort of charts for my recipients likes, for instance, I love floral designs and have a plethora of these, but so often I read that people don't like floral and if my partner is one of these what will I stitch? I worry about having the time to stitch, so I only take on one exchange at a time. I worry about the extras that I love to send, I want people to like them. I do have a wonderfully supportive husband who helps me choose and even supplies the funds for this. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH KEITH! That all done, when it's time to send the exchange off I worry about whether it will reach it's destination safely and haunt the appropriate exchange blog until I see a post from the recipient. I won't have any problems there though with the exchange with Clare as I'll be giving it to her myself when we meet up while I'm up in the Yorkshire Dales next month, and won't be having to rely on Royal Mail. Oh well, I guess I'm just a born worrier, I mean, is there anybody out there actually reading this? LOL

Snap, I too worry about exchanges, and that it will get lost in the post. It's nice to hear that Keith is supportive, my dh isn't!

I'm reading! lol :-) Another worrier here, so you're definitely not alone Nicola.

My OH would probably say 'it's the thought that counts' or 'tough luck' LOL.

He helps me choose designs sometimes, although I suspect he would never admit to it. :-)

Nice finish!

I too, worry about exchanges - not so much the stitching and finishing, that's the easy bit, but adding the "extras" - are they enough, will they be liked, will they aurvive the trip okay ...

I do sign up for only one at a time, and only one birthday and Christmas exchange, otherwise it can become a chore.

Violet cottage looks superb, this is going to be a lovely piece with all 3 together

I think we are all the same, i worry exactly like you, but a friend told me - "What do you think/feel when you receive a stitched gift? the recipient of yours will think the same as they know you have put time and effort into it" - didn't help i still worry LOL

I dont take part in them but like Nic my reasons are not my stitching but all the other bits and pieces that seem to be expected to go along with the stitched bit. I often look at an exchange and think it would be fun but I wish they would state - stitched item ONLY. I would worry far too much about finding the right extras to send.

There I was thinking it was just me who felt like that! Only done one exchange to USA (Xmas one) & the parcel was so late I sent another: both turned up OK but I worried myself sick over it. Haven't been able to take part in another exchange since.
Love the cottages - so looking forward to seeing all three together. :0)

Couldn't agree more Nicola - and I don't think extras should be expected either - just getting something that someone else has stitched is fantastic enough. I don't do many exchanges and I stress out completely over the ones I do and always swear it will be the last. oh and I'm also hopeless at buying gifts for people..lol

Rose and Violet Cottages are lovely and I look forward to seeing Peony!

I do exchanges so I read people's blogs to see what they like and try to chose something appropriate. I also worry that the 'extras' I send are maybe not enough and about packages getting lost in the mail too.

The cottages are beautiful Nicola.

Beautiful finish! I like how you stitching them togethr. I too worry about exchanges in the same way. It's part of the reason why I limit myself!

Your Cottages are so lovely! I look forward to seeing three of them finished.
One more worrier here.I agree with Stitchingranny that we must exchange our stitched pieces only. Sometimes the extras we send can be the reason of "lost" parcels: Customs can confiscate the parcels. Every country has its own Customs rules...

I'm with you on all the worries, although I still exchange, just not so many. Your houses are just lovely!
