Blogging........ what's that then?

Well blogging is obviously not something that I've been doing much of lately. I've taken quite a break and have been trying to decide whether or not to delete my blog. However, every time I mention this to my husband he persuades me not to, so here I am hoping that I may still have one or two readers left.

I have been doing quite a bit of stitching in the last three weeks since returning from my holiday. I didn't do any in the week before I went away or whilst I was away. Here's a photo of my progress on Prairie Schooler's December. As usual I'm really enjoying working on this one, despite being without my stitching lamp for a week as the bulb had blown. I had to use another lamp which lights my work from the side instead of overhead and I was getting a lot of shadows cast by my hand. I was also stitching with white thread on antique white fabric. I don't think I'm going to get this done for this coming Christmas, especially as I have to devote more time to gift stitching.

Despite my saying that I wasn't going to do any more exchanges for a while I just couldn't resist signing up for round 4 of the Year Long Prairie Schooler exchange. My partner was Laurence and as we are having postal strikes here in the U.K. I decided to get organised and stitch and send the exchange off before they started. I stitched two small ornaments, the fox from PS's new book "Fall Fields" and the Santa from "Christmas Day". Both are stitched on antique white 32ct Jobelan fabric using the recommended DMC threads. I'm pleased to say that they arrived safely with Laurence and that she liked them.

Many thanks for visiting my blog and for all the lovely comments that you leave.

Nicola

I am visiting and reading...glad I came by today, for I got to view your Prairie Schooler stitching projects! They are beautiful. Your blog is the third one I have visited in the last 2 days where there was some discussion about whether to "delete or not delete" ones blog. I think, like many things in life, we take it to the extreme and then get burnt out. Blogging should be something that we enjoy doing not an obligation...same as the exchanges we sign up for month after month. It is ok to give something a rest or only do it occasionally. I get that way to and I do take a break - but then after a bit,I usually sign in and find myself blogging, because it is a part of me. Take care...I have faith in you that you will be able to determine what is right for you!

Nicola, listen to your husband--he gives good advice. I'm glad you didn't give up blogging. Just do it when you feel like it--it's a hobby, not something to stress over. We all enjoy hearing from you when you want to pop in. :) Your stitching is beautiful, both the bigger piece and the exchanges!

It would be such a shame not to see your blog. I'm not a prolific blog poster and at the moment I have no stitching to share so I have inclination to do so.

It's good that you followed your husband's advice not to delete your blog. Just take a time-out when you need a pause and come back later. Like this time :)))
Your PS project looks terrific. And so do the two little ornaments.
You are like me when it comes to exchnages. I always swear not to join any more of them, and then you can find me in the next one, lol.

I love the two ornaments you've done for the exchange and your WIP is looking great - love those Prairie Schooler designs.
I'm hopeless at blogging also. I don't have a lot of enthusiasm for it but I manage to make a post once a month or so.
I hope you'll keep yours up.

Hi Nicola, I love reading your blog for you are one of the few in the UK that I have found also it is always interesting. Just do it when you feel like it (like housework!!) I always admire people who blog for it is not something I would want to do. I love your two little PS they are so cute and beautifully finished.
Happy stitching,
Hazel (UK)

I think many of us have had the urge to unsubscribe to the act of blogging every now and then. As many of us now read blogs via a feedreader, even if you go offline for months at a time, we'll see you when you're back again later :) I know that I'm really bad at commenting these days, and it takes me a real effort to actually put the fingers to the keyboard and leave a comment. I hope you don't stop blogging, as it's lovely to see your stitching progress etc - just continue to do it when you feel like it, and enjoy those days that you do - once blogging becomes a chore there's no point ... you gotta do what feels right at the time. Sometimes you need a wee break just to go your original enthusiasm back again :)
