A New Start and a Sneak Preview

It's a new year and I wanted a change from Christmas or winter designs, so my new start is LHN's Lavender Hill. This design uses my favourite lavender DMC thread colours and I'm stitching it on 32ct Summer Khaki Belfast linen, although the photo doesn't do the colour justice and it looks a bit on the grey side.

I mentioned in my last post that I was stitching an exchange for the HoE. I don't think my partner reads my blog, but just in case she does I won't show you the whole piece, just a sneaky peak. You'll have to wait until next month to see the whole thing.

Something that I didn't mention in my last post was that last Saturday afternoon Mr. L. and I had a rare outing to see a show. For our Christmas presents my son had bought us tickets to see Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag in their Steppin' Out tour at Birmingham's Symphony Hall. Anton and Erin are two of the fabulous professional dancers from T.V.'s Strictly Come Dancing. The show was great, the dresses wonderful and sparkly, and the music was just up my street. The London Concert Orchestra played numbers by Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern and George Gershwin. Incidentally, the vocalist was Graham Bickley who, not only has a great voice and been in many West End productions, but was also the second actor to play Joey Boswell in T.V.'s comedy series "Bread".

Many thanks to those of you who still read my blog and to those who left me a comment. I fear I may have lost some readers due to my lack of posting and also of commenting. Please bear with me as I am trying to get back into blogging properly. Unfortunately, I am not a prolific stitcher and don't always have much to show you or talk about.

Your new starts are very pretty. I can't wait to see the HOE exchange piece revealed in full - it's certainly not the pattern I've chosen for my partner ;o)

I'm jealous that you got to see Anton and Erin's show ;) They are my favourite SCD professionals and the music is right up my street too. Maybe I'll get to go another time - I'd really love to see them in person!

Nice start too, very pretty colours.

Nicola,

Your outing sounds wonderful. I'm glad that you and your husband both enjoyed it.

I stitched that LHN piece for a RR and it gave me fits. I hope it goes smoothly for you. I think it will be lovely on that color fabric.

A great new start. It should help to et your mind off of winter and snow and cold, lol. I'm also searching through my spring designs to find the one to start some spring stitching with.
You have stitched and received some wonderful exchanges lately.

Lovely new start - I really like that LHN design, and can't wait to see more :) I also can't wait to see more than a sneak peek of the red one :P

Don't worry about not post/commenting regularly - life is what life is, and you should just be posting when you feel like it - otherwise blogging starts feeling like a chore and the enjoyment disappears ... better to keep the joy alive :P

I love Lavender Hill! It is so lovely and delicate. Lavender is one of my favorite flowers. I keep buying them every year but unfortunately they don't seem to thrive in my garden!
I look forward to seeing it finished!

What a wonderful picture. I must be living in a hole because I have not heard of Lavender Hill by LHN. It looks great on the fabric that you chose. Can't wait to see more. Take care.
