"Hetty Child"

As I said I would in my last post, I spent last week working on The Sampler Company's "Hetty Child" sampler. I had made a very small start on it way back in early March (I think) but had put it away until the Friday before last and when I picked it up again I just couldn't put it down! Unlike Edgar who when he stitched this converted the threads to silk ones, I'm stitching this in the recommended DMC threads, and just love the muted colours which I think give this a vintage look. The fabric looks rather blue in this photo, it is in fact antique white.

I thought I'd share with you a photo of our Phalaenopsis orchid. When we bought this in March it had two main flower spikes with some buds on them. Those buds have since opened and now there are three new flower spikes coming off the existing ones. It seems to be very happy living on our landing window sill, however, I just had to move it to take the photo.

This week it's the turn of Gourmet Garden to receive my attention. Hopefully that frog that was sitting on my shoulder yesterday has now hopped away, as I had to unpick over an hours worth of stitching. An update of that next week.

Many thanks for visiting my blog and for all the lovely comments that you leave.

Nicola

Hetty looks fantastic! Lovely orchid, too. I had one that was growing so well, it had a profusion of blooms. I got this insane idea to try to attach it to a stake so that it would grow straight and SNAP! I broke it off. I was SO upset. :P~~ I think there's a reason why my mother bought me 'air' plants when I was a kid!! As in, fake plants in a pot. ROFLOL
