Prairie Schooler Stitching

I seem to be going through a Prairie Schooler phase at the moment. I've had a couple of small finishes and have the Harvest Time Village on the go. The first finish is "S is for Spring", a free chart that I don't think is available any more. I stitched this pin keep for Clare, who we were supposed to see her on a recent weekend away in the Dales. However, at the last minute, she couldn't make it and so I posted it to her. If I remember rightly I've used 32ct ivory Jobelan fabric, and the called for DMC threads.

I just finished this lovely design today. It's from Prairie Schooler's book, Prairie Birds, and is stitched on 32ct antique white Jobelan fabric using the recommended DMC threads. I'm going to finish this into a pin keep for myself as I feel I need the practise.

This is where I'm up to with the village from the Harvest Time chart by Prairie Schooler. I eventually settled for stitching this on 36ct antique white Edinburgh linen. Although I struggled a bit with this to start with, I think I missed the Spring colours, I'm now really enjoying working on this piece.

As I mentioned at the start of this post, we went up to the Yorkshire Dales for the weekend the weekend before last. We stayed in our usual cottage and had a fabulous time. The weather was quite mixed, suuny on the Friday we arrived, rain on the Saturday, and a thin layer of snow on the Sunday. The photo below shows Swaledale looking east towards the village of Muker.

We had a great day last Saturday as we picked up our "new to us car". We'd had our other one for over five years and it was nine years old. It had started to cost us money, and when we were at the garage booking it in for some work I saw this second hand car, same make - a Hyundai Accent, but only eighteen months old. I was a bit sad to see the old one go, but it was time, we had driven over sixty thousand miles in her, some of them over the steep, winding, narrow roads of the Dales. Now I just have to get used to driving this new one, I don't drive very often and it's still a bit strange to me.

As always thanks for reading and commenting.

Lovely stitching progress Nicola. Oh I would love to get away for a weekend but ours always seem to be so busy with jobs to do and Oz to stay.

Not heard from you for ages - hope you are both well.

What beautiful stitching! I love the pic of your gorgeous countryside, too. Enjoy the new car--as they say here, wear well! I don't get the meaning but I take it to mean--safe travels, and that's what I wish you in your new car! ;)
