What Did I Do Last Week?

I made my first beaded edge biscornu, that's what I did last week. I used Papillon Creation's free chart Moonlight Serenade and stitched it using DMC Variations threads 4045, 4077 and 4220. Now I have to admit that I saw this colour scheme for the same chart used for a biscornu on another blog, so I have to thank Nita for the idea. The beads are Mill Hill frosted seed beads 62046 pale blue.

The beaded edge is not perfect, and if anyone out there has any constructive critism to offer, it would be grately appreciated.

I last stitched on LHN's Gourmet Garden about three weeks ago, so this is how it looks now. I put it aside to work on "Hetty Child" but haven't done much, so no photo of that just yet.

Yesterday I made Mother's Day cards. The top one is for my mother, but the little silver tag which has "with love" debossed on it does not show up very well on the photo. The bottom card is for my mother-in-law.

Hasn't the weather here in the U.K. turned gorgeous, if not a bit cold? I'm hoping it will stay that way because in two weeks time Mr. L. and I are off up to Swaledale again for the week. Both the cottages where we stay have been renovated so we're looking forward to seeing the results of that, although I think we may be in the one next door to our usual one as last I heard the owner wasn't sure if it would be ready for our visit.

Many thanks for visiting my blog and for all the lovely comments that you leave.

Nicola

Hello Nicola : what a beautiful biscornu with springly colors . About your beaded edge, maybe you will be more happy with it if you would put just a bead where you put two ones?? It is just an idea :-)
Your mothers cards are pretty sweet : I am sure your mother and your mother-in-law will be grateful with them :-) Oh!! I wish you a very nice trip with MR L ,
Take care,
Isa

Your cards are lovely and I'm sure your Mum and MIL will appreciate them.
The biscornu is lovely, spring colours too. Perhaps if you alternated with the beads, sew a bead, miss a bead, sew a bead, miss a bead! You wouldn't get too much of a straight line. Or petite beads so that there is not so much overcrowding.
Enjoy your holiday.

Hi there I am slowly ploughing my way back into blogland and trying to catch up with everyone. Life is still hectic but with Water Tiger out of the way I do have a little time to get at the PC again. I have been flicking through and looking at all your pretty stitching Nicola, and I hope to visit a little more frequently now Im back.

Hope you and Keith have a lovely holiday.

I think that was my biscornu that I received from Nita! The colours really made be smile. Well done on the beaded edging, I've never done it so don't have any advice. Have a lovely holiday!

Lovely stitching - and thanks for the compliment
As Isadarena said above - you might be happier with fewer beads on the edge - maybe every second or third stitch?

Hi Nicola
I don't think the people that leave these comments even read the post. They seem to pick at random as I've had these kind of comments on posts that are over a year old. I set my blog to moderate on all posts over a month old as I was sick of trying to track down the post which the comment had been left on. It's so annoying isn't it.

How very beautiful! Such patience! I will stick with a paint brush or a sewing machine as I would get tangled up in the thread working by hand, but I admire anyone that can do this type of work.
