Another Finish

Finally LHN's Acorn Hill is finished! I actually started this whilst on holiday back in October 2008 but only stitched on it a bit here and there. A couple of weeks back I decided that it was time to get on with it and I finished it off last Thursday. It's stitched on 28ct beige Quaker linen using the recommended Crescent Colour threads.

While waiting for a thread to arrive in order to finish Acorn Hill I couldn't resist another start. It's Blackbird Design's "When This You See" from their "Remember Me" series. I've had the chart a few years and have been gradually collecting the threads for it. Although I still have a few to get I had enough to make a start on it. It's not really worth a photo yet so I'll leave that until next week.

I'll leave you now though with a couple of photos of peonies from our garden. We picked the first ones on Sunday so a couple of the blooms are starting to go over now. The ones in the second photo I picked yesterday. The white peony used to belong to my late father-in-law and we have had it for quite a long time now. The bush has produced an absolute mass of flowers this year but did get flattened a bit in heavy rain a couple of weeks ago. The deep pink peony is one we bought from Bridgemere garden centre and has taken a few years to establish so it was great to be able to pick a couple of blooms from it.

Many thanks for visiting my blog and for all the lovely comments that you leave.

Nicola

How lovely to have *family* plants! Love your finish. Was a little dismayed in Michael's Crafts yesterday to see a whole section of autumn artificial and silk flowers and leaves - the day after summer officially started!

Wonderful finish. Don't you love those projects that you work a little bit on here and there and then one day pick them up and finish them up. Your peonies are beautiful - just love the red ones.

I love your finish. I did this one as well. Instead of Acorn Hill, I put the name of my town.

Great finish Nicola - was just wondering if any of the cup cakes were left? Could really do with one for the sad and lonely cup of coffee!
