I am contemplating making my first mattress pincushion. The advice that I'm looking for is about stuffing it. What is the best material to use - cotton batting, polyester wadding or polyester toy stuffing?
I'd be grateful for any help, thank you.

I made one last year and used pillow stuffing , came out fine but I would say over stuff it rather than under stuff with time they go a little flat if you don't hope this helps .
I did a couple of these last year and the stuffing was layers of Warm and Natural (a quilt batting) cute in pieces slightly smaller that the stitched piece and stacked up. Makes a nice filling, as fat or as flat as you want it. Just remember to keep the layer flat! Laura
The ones I have stitches are finished exactly like Laura suggests with the same wadding brand.
I have used quilt batting also a compact one so that it is quite firm when finished.
The ones I've made I used pillow stuffing, looking forward to seeing what design you have stitched and how it turns out Nicola.
